Description:
- Newly created position due to company growth
- Newcastle, NSW based with some travel
- Permanent role, with packing between $100k - $150k + Super + Car
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience in wet or dry systems design.
- In-depth knowledge of Australian Standards and BCA Code.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Hyena hydraulic calculation software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to interpret design specifications, contracts, and safety rules, with the capability to prepare routine reports and correspondence.
- Desirable qualifications include a Diploma of Fire Systems Design, FPAS FSD Accreditations, and knowledge of Revit.
- Certifier (Fire Safety) BDC accreditation within NSW and a tertiary qualification in Building Surveying, Fire Safety Engineering, or Engineering.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience, understanding Building Code Australia and legislative frameworks, with the ability to craft Code-based Fire Engineering and Access reports.

Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLES
Based in Heatherbrae (NSW), as the sole Fire Systems Designer and Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in creating detailed design drawings and documentation for fire sprinklers, fire hydrants, and fire detection systems. Your responsibilities will include preparing comprehensive plans, conducting site inspections, liaising with stakeholders, managing procurement, and ensuring strict compliance with industry standards and regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop detailed drawings and plans for fire sprinkler and hydrant systems, encompassing water supplies, pumps, and storage tanks.
- Create comprehensive designs for fire detection and alarm systems, aligning with project specifications and fire engineering reports.
- Conduct fieldwork and site inspections to coordinate designs and audit installations, ensuring adherence to regulations.
- Utilise CAD software for design development, complete hydraulic calculations, and ensure compliance with specifications.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align design development with their requirements and manage materials procurement accordingly.
- Review project briefs to understand fire safety implications beyond minimum compliance, providing fire engineering support.
- Perform fire, smoke, and evacuation modeling, prepare related reports, and conduct assessments, including design reviews and audits.
