JOB DESCRIPTION

At Motorola Solutions, our co-ops don’t wash cars or do coffee runs. They also don’t work on side projects. Our co-ops are treated like embedded members on our agile teams and are given the opportunity to learn what being a tester is like in the real world. You’ll have the opportunity to learn new technologies and best practices in coding, testing and automation.
You’ll learn about agile development and what it takes to release an industry leading solution that comprises of hardware, firmware, and software all produced in Vancouver. You’ll also have a lot of fun and make a lot of friends.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient with Python or another scripting language
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting capability
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Good understanding of networking protocols (HTTP, TCP, UDP, IP)
  • Experience with test management and issue tracking tools
  • Experience with debugging tools and version control systems
  • Experience with embedded systems
  • Experience with development in a Linux environment
  • Experience with C++, Make and bash
  • Knowledge of digital imaging/photography and audio/video coding
    The salary range for this position in British Columbia is 42,000 - 52,000 CAD depending on experience.

  • Enrollment in an accredited university undergraduate or Masters program

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with development and maintenance of an automated build system
  • Assist with development and maintenance of an automated test framework
  • Implement programs and scripts that allow automated functional testing of the devices under test (cameras)
  • Execute test plans and identify and document any issues discovered during testing
  • Collaborate closely with firmware developers to reproduce and resolve any issues uncovered in the tests
  • Interact regularly with our Quality Assurance team and ensure correct testing steps are followed
  • Establish a deep understanding of all firmware components and their interactions
