Responsibilities:

The Senior Analyst, Underwriting is responsible for reviewing, processing, and negotiating the approval of residential mortgages, supporting higher approval inquiries from intermediate underwriters, manager requests, and escalation rotation. The role applies comprehensive knowledge and skills in residential mortgage underwriting to act as a consultant for branches, mortgage advisors, and brokers seeking to appeal credit decisions, negotiating satisfactory resolution to applications within CIBC’s business and credit risk objectives. The Senior Analyst, Underwriting exercises independent judgement within defined procedures, providing specialized advice and guidance on company policy, procedures, and security value estimates.
The role works with limited direction, providing direction to junior underwriters and acting in a leadership capacity to assist in coaching, training, and quality assurance. In addition, the role prepares and makes recommendations to the manager where residential mortgage applications are above the authorized limit.
