Experience must include:

  • Three (3) years:
  • Accurately using the ten-key numerical keypad on a computer or adding machine to enter numerical data by touch.
  • Entering accurate accounting related information into an electronic accounting system.
  • Analyzing and reconciling general or subsidiary ledger for validity and accuracy.
  • Providing customer service by listening attentively, identifying needs or issues, providing options for customers, and exercising knowledge of state laws and regulations to assist others.
  • Interpreting, explaining, and training on agency/organization directions, policies, and procedures.
  • Conveying ideas and information in writing while using language that is appropriate to both the complexity of the topic and the knowledge and understanding of the reader.
  • Two (2) years:
  • Using Office Suite Programs (or equivalent) for spreadsheets, word document creation, and email management.
  • Performing research, gathering applicable records, and managing hardcopy and electronic accounting records

Responsibilities:

DUTIES

As a Fiscal Analyst, you will plan and direct the workload to make sure all revenue collections and reconciliations are accurate and timely. Coaching and mentorship of your staff will be key, providing meaningful evaluation while utilizing your expert knowledge to provide interpretation and guidance. Additionally, you will analyze and accurately report on all internal systems needing reconciliation. You will be ideal for this role by leveraging your expert knowledge to coordinate and plan with the accountant administrator and facilitate updates to the greater DOL team.

SOME OF WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Supervise the daily operations of the Revenue Unit to plan, organize, direct, and control workload, coach, and mentor staff, and provide meaningful feedback.
  • Coach and mentor staff as needed to enhance performance including completion of evaluations and performance discussions.
  • Oversee the receipting for revenue collections including reviews, balances, and reconciliation.
  • Assist with the development and updates to policies and procedures for revenue and revenue refunds, including automated systems.
  • Produce Journal Vouchers for system distribution to OST and other state agencies based on RCW and WACs.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE:

  • Five (5) years of combined relevant experience and/or education in professional accounting.

OR

  • Three (3) years of professional accounting experience
  • 18 quarters or 12 semester hours of accounting, auditing, finance, or budgeting

Experience can be obtained concurrently.

What may help set you apart:

  • Experience accurately inputting data and reviewing transactions in Agency Financial Reporting System (AFRS) and ability to run Enterprise Reporting reports.
  • Knowledge of Office of Financial Management (OFM) Federal, and State regulations and guidelines.
  • Experience using Agency-Specific Systems such as AFRS, DRIVES, Financial Toolbox, Enterprise Reporting.
  • Experience successfully directing the work of others through mentoring, coaching, and team building.
  • Experience in accounting theory, principles and practices, internal control procedures, financial management software applications, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM).
