  • Experience identifying salmonids

  • Experience with and the ability to operate firearms
  • Experience operating small skiffs

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school graduation or the equivalent.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work may involve exposure to animals, insects, inclement weather, low level flying, travel by boat or skiff, or contact with drugs and chemicals. Housing may consist of bunkhouses, vessels, or wall tents. Positions are seasonal or temporary.

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

This position acts as the crew leader at a salmon counting weir in the remote Alaskan wilderness from approximately May 15–September 15. The incumbent will install, maintain, and remove a salmon counting weir. Remote field camp responsibilities include participating in camp chores and maintaining a working relationship in a shared living environment.

Special Note:

  • Valid Driver’s license is required.
  • Room and board will be provided while in the field. However, while stationed in the City of Kodiak ADF&G Bunkhouse (approximately 1.0 week/season), the successful candidate will be expected to provide their own food. The successful candidate is responsible for providing their own transportation to and from the City of Kodiak.
