DESCRIPTION:

Quick overview of the role
Working as part of the Maintenance team, you will be responsible for the maintenance, overhaul and repair of machinery and equipment. The Fitter will be working in a fast-paced environment, delivering a safe and committed effort to service our workplace needs. This is a role that requires forward thinking and sound initiative in order to achieve results safely within a team environment. This position may involve travel from time to time, to assist our branch network. You will receive thorough training and support to learn all aspects of the Fitter role, and any future career development opportunities within the business. We are excited to offer a permanent role to a reliable and dedicated Fitter with a willingness to learn, where monthly bonuses are up for grabs!
What will you be doing?
Accurately report work undertaken and provide feedback on the condition of all equipment worked on through the Preventative Computer Maintenance Management system.
Maintain and operate the preventative maintenance program in a timely manner to ensure equipment and facilities are safe, operational, and robust.
Deliver a prompt response for all requests for mechanical repairs through the Maintenance Requisition system.
Assist in maintaining appropriate levels of spare equipment to ensure production reliability and minimise downtime. Ensure that physical inventory matches systems information by signing out spare parts from the store once removed.
Provide maintenance fitting/ mechanical duties. Provide technical advice and support as required in order to resolve work problems or assist employees in problem solving.
Detail machine components, assemblies, layouts and performance specifications.
Contribute to the design/ redesign of production machinery and equipment to increase efficiency and reliability to meet production requirements.
Coordinate and assist in engineering projects and ensure project timeframes are achieved on schedule.
To provide assistance with drafting and engineering services cross the Neumann Steel branches.
Provide status updates on engineering projects and breakdown maintenance.
Coordinate and negotiate workplace planning to maintain production and maintenance capabilities.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES:

What are we looking for in the successful candidate?
Qualifications in Mechanical Engineering / Certificate III Trade in Fitting and Turning.
3 years’ experience in a similar role.
Driver’s & Forklift license required.
Hydraulic and pneumatic experience.
Welding and Thermal cutting experience.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
