Description:
PRIMARY OBJECTIVES OF POSITION
Develops and improves products and processes through applied research; taking into account business objectives. To work with Operations on scale-up; setting specifications.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Recognised BSc with 0-3 years in Food Science or related discipline, and/or experience in flavour or related industry research function.
- Be inquisitive, independent, open-minded, analytical & able to carry out the scientific method.
- Ability to communicate effectively, and be self-motivated.
- A commitment to maintaining company standards of quality with a general understanding of FSSC22000 Food Safety System
3. Develop Capabilities
- Able to conduct training for staff.
- Maintain laboratories & pilot plant.
- Optimise/recommend lab & pilot plant capabilities in line with business objectives
Responsibilities:
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Innovate New Products & Processes
- Stay up to date in area of expertise via industry best practices, trainings and collaborations.
- Create/improve product prototypes through experimentation and laboratory/pilot tests.
- Establish product specifications and documentation.
- Evaluate products’ characteristics for implications on shelf life, quality and scalability.
- Scale-Up Manufacturing of New/Optimised Products & Processes
- Conceptualise commercial production processes for food products using current or new facilities and equipment.
- Translate lab/pilot to commercial production in compliance with requirements (e.g. regulatory) through related production & regulatory colleagues.
- Make recommendations in the design of new manufacturing processes or modify existing equipment or processe.
- Able to conduct training for staff.
- Maintain laboratories & pilot plant.
