Fleet Accountant

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Responsible for vessel accounts and Operating Expenses (OPEX) reporting.
• Preparation of supplier payment runs for all entities and supplier remittance advice notification;
• Assist the Finance Manager in management of Corporate Accounts inclusive of GST.
• Preparing and reviewing monthly reporting, schedules, and reconciliations;
• Preparing monthly bank reconciliations to external bank statements;
• Maintaining up-to-date accounts and other financial records for the vessels within his/her fleet.
• To stand in as a primary point of contact and liaise with management team (or with client, if required) for the day-to-day accounting / reporting matters.
• Ensuring that accounting reports for clients are prepared and reviewed prior within the agreed reporting deadlines.
• Verifying vessel related payments and monitoring the collection of funds and vessel financial position in general, liaising / alerting the Management as appropriate,
• Reviewing all prime data and ensuring that is properly authorised and coded by the relevant departments in a timely manner.
• Liaising with other departments in the explanation of running cost variances.
• Assisting other departments in the preparation of the budget and forecasts in accordance with the clients’ timetable and requirements.
• Ensuring invoice posting, payment of purchase invoices and other creditors in accordance with the Company’s payment prioritisation policy subject to the availability of funds.
• Assisting the Accounting team with any other duties that are required to be carried out.
• Other duties as may be required from time to time by the Managing Director.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Previous experience in an Shipping, Marine or Offshore operations related company where responsiblities included vessel OPEX accounting and reporting.
• At least 3 to 5 years of experience in similar capacity from the ship management industry.
• A recognized Diploma or Advance Diploma or professional qualification in Accountancy.
• Good analytical skills, financial statement interpretation / analysis.
• Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively.
