  • All Bureau capital cities, including Cairns, will be considered.
    This position forms part of the Bureau’s national Flood Warning Network (FWN) team, responsible for management of an extensive network of flood warning assets across Australia. This network is critical for the provision of timely flood warnings for the safety of the Australian public. The team provides a focal point for technical leads maintaining the flood warning infrastructure in each of the Bureau’s Observing Operations Hubs across Australia and is responsible for coordination of maintenance, sustainment, and improvement activities across the Flood Warning network. The role reports to the Flood Warning Network Manager.
    The focus of this role will be supporting a national Flood Warning Infrastructure Network upgrade program, a large-scale project upgrading numerous gauges in Australia’s high priority catchments and transitioning to Bureau ownership. This will include information collation, planning and tracking works to enable the upgrade program and improving maintenance management processes to facilitate the volume increase. The role requires strong planning skills, organisation, and adaptability. The duties are broad including procurement, asset information management, and report and technical document writing, project activity planning. A background in the maintenance and/or management of hydrological equipment is advantageous. The role also provides support to the Flood Warning Network Manager for general administrative of the network and collaboration with internal stakeholders. The occupant will ensure that stakeholders are informed of progress on key initiatives through effective, proactive and appropriate communication.
