Job Description
AECOM’s Water Business Line is seeking a creative, highly talented Floodplain Management Technical Leader/Senior Project Manager .
This technical leadership role within AECOM offers an exciting opportunity to focus on a mix of client business growth, technical leadership in floodplain management, project delivery leadership, and mentoring of developing engineering staff by leveraging top-notch regional and national floodplain management expertise and capabilities to expand AECOM’s local, state, and federal floodplain management business.
The appropriately qualified applicant will be a seller/doer and have the opportunity to manage and work with an established team of professional engineers on a variety of floodplain management projects including modeling and mapping. The applicant will have the opportunity to provide engineering leadership on a mix of local, state, and federal projects.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License and must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Licensed Professional Engineer preferred
  • Certified Floodplain Manager or the ability to obtain licensure within 6 months of employment.
  • Experience in preparation of engineering proposals for submission to clients, and in business development.
  • Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with diverse audience groups including clients, the public, regulatory staff, subconsultants, and internal technical staff.
  • Demonstrated project management fundamentals and a proven track record of providing technical leadership to successfully deliver water projects.
  • Experience supervising other engineering professionals, and strong staff development, mentoring and management skills.
  • Proven track record of leading and successfully delivering floodplain management projects, resulting in securing additional projects from clients.
  • Position requires occasional business travel to meet clients and to various AECOM offices
    Additional Information
    Offered rate of compensation (Kentucky locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $130,000 - $170,000.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with regional and national AECOM experts in the Water Business Line and across business lines to bring cutting-edge solutions and teams to our clients and to seek new floodplain management business opportunities with existing clients.
  • Identifies new business opportunities for AECOM, coordinates and participates in project presentations to clients and other external groups, and promotes AECOM’s capabilities, marketing its services among existing and prospective clients.
  • Work with senior technical staff and marketing staff to deliver winning proposals.
  • Serve as Client Services Manager for select clients.
  • Conduct planning and staff meetings.
  • Oversee the successful delivery of technical work.
  • Serve as Seller/Doer, Project Manager, and technical lead for floodplain management projects.
  • Oversee project elements including reports, hydrologic & hydraulic models, mapping, and permitting packages.
  • Perform project management activities including coordination with clients, sub-consultants, regulatory agencies; scope, schedule, and budget development; project team coordination; interdisciplinary coordination; budget and schedule tracking; invoicing; and payment of sub-consultants. Position has significant profit/loss responsibility for assigned project.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff and provide professional growth opportunities for team members – with a focus on floodplain management.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, and ability to successfully direct multi-disciplinary teams.
