REQUIRED COMPETENCY (EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE & SKILLS):

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field

PREFERRED COMPETENCY (EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE & SKILLS):

  • Master’s degree in related field
  • Experience with geomodelling and well planning software (Petrel)
  • Strong skillset in geology including structural interpretation. Knowledge related to other core subsurface disciplines including reservoir engineering and geophysics is an advantage.

Responsibilities:

ACCOUNTABILITY & END RESULT:

  • Plan drilling opportunities identified by the Portfolio group, and optimize BHL to ensure economically viable targets in line with internal metrics
  • Plan and optimize well trajectories, identify risks both in the overburden and the reservoir and co-ordinate the planning process on a technical level across involved disciplines to deliver a detailed drilling plan and approved AFE
  • Evaluate geological uncertainties and risks planning new wells
  • Provide target justification and detailed characterization of drilling targets as needed

ASSIGNED ROLES, RESPONSIBILITIES, PROCEDURES AND OTHER:

  • Planning, execution, and post evaluation of producers and injectors drilled in the Greater Ekofisk Area
  • Deliver geologically input to all milestones and deliverables identified in the Well Design and Delivery Process (WDDP)
  • Provide input to wells drilling program and Final Well Report (FWR)
  • Support detailed new well planning structural interpretation, and other field data to ensure the best possible project
  • Work closely with Wells to ensure geological uncertainties and risks are understood and drilling plans optimized
  • Provide geological framework to geosteering plan and procedures
  • Participation in real time geosteering duty rooster, both for reservoir geosteering and casing point selection
  • Close collaboration with the Portfolio team, Reservoir Characterization, Geophysical Implementation Team and Wells Engineering team in the planning of new production and injection wells
  • Involvement in special projects working across the GEA Development to integrate new data into the geological and reservoir models
