ABOUT THE POSITIONS

We are seeking two Forest Management Trainees to join our friendly and close knitted team.
This is a full-time permanent position and requires a minimum of 38 hours of work per week.
This role will be given initial training in the Auckland office for up to 12 months and will then work across three main locations - Tauranga, Whanganui, and Whangārei.

The key tasks of this role include:

  • Forest Management: Work closely with experienced forest managers as you actively participate in various forest management tasks. Gain valuable skills under their guidance.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to our commitment to excellence by enhancing contractor Health and Safety practices, promoting environmental sustainability, and optimizing value recovery standards.
  • Procurement Excellence: Assisting in strategic procurement of wharf gate purchases from third-party suppliers. Your efforts will ensure a seamless supply chain.
  • Quality Control Leadership: Take charge of quality control for our export log operations at relevant ports. This includes overseeing debarked log grades to maintain the highest quality standards.
  • Business Development: Be a driving force behind expanding and enhancing our company’s operations in New Zealand. Your strategic insights and innovation will shape our future success.

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED

The successful candidate for this role must possess:

  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Essential knowledge and understanding of:
  • Timber sales
  • Harvesting and haulage systems
  • Forest road construction and maintenance
  • Relevant industry Codes of Practice and legislation
  • Computer skills and the ability to learn and apply new technologies to your work
  • Bachelor of Science/ Environmental Science (Forestry) or equivalent Tertiary qualifications in a similar field is desirable
