OM OSS:

Gruppen Material- og konstruksjonsmekanikk jobber på en rekke problemstillinger der materialer, komponenter og konstruksjoner blir utsatt for ekstreme belastninger, eksempelvis krasjkomponenter i biler, supervarme geotermiske brønner eller forbindelser i modulære flytende konstruksjoner. Dette innebærer at vi har solid kompetanse innen beregningsmekanikk, mekanisk testing og utvikling av spesialisert programvare innen disse områdene. Gruppen har en robust og variert prosjektportefølje som inkluderer både direkteoppdrag til industri, forskningsrådstøttede innovasjonsprosjekter og involvering i langvarige forskningssentre, se mer på vår hjemmeside .
Gruppen er en del av avdelingen Materialer og nanoteknologi i SINTEF Industri. Materialteknologi, inkludert nanoteknologi er av avgjørende betydning for å løse de store utfordringene i vårt globale samfunn, og danner grunnlaget for nye forretningsmuligheter i både eksisterende og nytt næringsliv. Avdelingen utvikler generisk materialkunnskap på høyt internasjonalt nivå for et bredt marked. Vi bistår våre kunder med å utvikle nye eller forbedrede produkter basert på vår sterke kompetanse innen strukturelle og funksjonelle materialer. Research scientist / Sr. research scientist in the group- Material- and Structural Mechanics
Do you want to develop technology for a better society?
We want to strengthen our team and are looking for a new couleage that will be working within the fields of computational mechanics and mechanics of materials.

DESIRED COMPETENCE AND EXPERIENCE FOR THE POSITION:

PhD or equivalent research experience in mechanics of materials or structural mechanics
Broad experience with nonlinear computational programs such as Abaqus or LS-DYNA
Experience in programming/software development is an advantage
Good presentation skills in English. If you do not speak Norwegian, you are expected to learn the language from SINTEF’s language courses

ABOUT US:

The group Material- and Structural Mechanics work with several research and engineering problems that involves materials and structures that are exposed to extreme loadings, for example automotive crash components, superhot geothermal wells, and connections in floating structures. Thus we have a solid competence within mechanics of materials, computational mechanics and development of specialized software within these fields. The group has a robust and varied project portfolio that includes both direct projects to industry, innovation projects supported by the Norwegian research council, and involvement in long-term research centres, see more on our webpage .
The group is part of the Materials and Nanotechnology department at SINTEF Industry. Materials technology, including nanotechnology, is of paramount importance for solving the major challenges in our global society, and forms the basis for new business opportunities in both existing and new businesses. The department develops generic material knowledge at a high international level for a broad market. We assist our customers in developing new or improved products based on our strong expertise in structural and functional materials. Through combination with other relevant expertise in SINTEF, we contribute to the development of sustainable value chains in the context of a circular economy.
