The Finance Service is committed to providing excellent stewardship of the Council’s resources, whilst supporting the Council to develop commercial opportunities and innovative ways of delivering services.
As part of the Counter Fraud Service you will be responsible for investigating all areas of potential fraud and supporting preventative initiatives.
The team is responsible for delivering a demanding programme of works as part of the Financial Services Service Plan in addition to providing support to all departments of the authority to investigate and prevent fraud. We are looking for somebody with a flexible approach to undertaking new tasks and opportunities with a desire to work effectively as part of a team to successfully deliver our objectives.
You will be enthusiastic, tenacious, and willing to undertake ongoing professional training to be successful in post. Experience of working within a Local Government setting within a similar role is an advantage. Your role will require you to interrogate existing in-house systems and have up-to-date knowledge of legislation and guidance governing criminal and civil investigation practice.
You will participate in the team effort to prevent and detect fraud and to raise awareness of the Council’s counter fraud activity. As an Investigator you will be responsible for timely investigation of fraud referrals capable of securing remedial action. You will participate in activity to protect Council assets and prevent fraud and work with internal colleagues and external agencies to ensure that all lines of enquiry are exhausted.
You will have the desire to make a real difference and the interpersonal skills to assist the Council to embed an anti-fraud culture.
