Job Summary
Registers patients ensuring that all information in the Hospital Information System is accurate and complete. Obtains all necessary consent signatures for all patients registered. Collects referral forms and co-pays. Determines registrations status and financial clearance for upcoming patients, pre-registers accounts and determines which patients need to be seen for registration, collection of co-pay|referral forms, and|or financial counseling. Communicates with parents regarding insurance regulations, benefits and payment issues.
Essential Job Functions
Informs families of their benefits and|or financial responsibility.
Notifies parents of availability of financial assistance programs. Specifically NJ Family Care | Medicaid, CSH Benefit Fund Application and|or Prompt Pay Discount. Distributes and assists with the completion of the application(s).
Serves as liaison between Payor, Therapist|Clinician, Physician and the Patient’s parent|guardian with respect to financial issues.
Assures accuracy in all registrations, verifies all information when updating a patient’s account and|or re-registering a patient. Verifies all information when opening a pre-registered account.
Pre-registers outpatient accounts in an organized timely fashion.
Obtains all consent signatures as necessary, distributes face sheets, consents, labels and encounter form for outpatients. Scan documents into computer system.
Requests payment at the time of services for co-pays and|or patients responsibility. provides itemized receipts. maintains accurate accounting of all payments|cash on hand and close drawer on a daily basis.
Collects insurance referral forms. copies insurance and identification cards and distributes as necessary for all patients registered.
Schedules ACC and|or Therapy appointments and performs scheduling functions, confirms appointments.
Other tasks assigned by management.

Formal Education and Job-Related Experience

  • Ability to professionally inter-relate with people (i.e. parents, staff, patients, managed care organizations, physicians, outside agencies, etc.) Familiarity with computer software packages Microsoft Office. Ability to organize and follow specific instructions. Maintain patient confidentiality, knowledge of NJ financial programs (Medicaid, Charity Care). The competence to communicate a financial plan for the patient.
