Front End Engineer

We’re looking for a Front-End Engineer. The role will sit within the Enterprise Data & Advanced Analytics organization (EDAA) within Siemens Energy and be allocated to the ESG* DataHub programme (*Environment, Social & Governance).

In EDAA, we are using innovative technologies and bringing new ideas to reality, enabling our customers to use their data as a strategic asset, allowing them to transition to a more sustainable world. We are a group of engineers, data scientists, machine learning researchers, data governance experts, product managers, and more.
Joining this team means you will be working within a squad of engineers, working to deliver the vision of our ESG colleagues. You will be exposed to the fast-changing worlds of data and sustainability, including the new CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) reporting landscape.

WHAT YOU BRING (SKILLS, CAPABILITIES)

You will:

• Have a deep understanding of modern React (e.g. hooks, context, function components)
• Have experience in Javascript and Typescript to write components and their logic
• Have ample experience of HTML and CSS to create web components and layouts
• Have expertise in designing & structuring reusable components to facilitate code maintenance and scalability.
• Have deep experience with appropriate testing frameworks/protocols/tools (e.g. unit testing, end to end testing)
• Have experience with loading optimisation techniques
• Experience with UI design tools & practices, e.g. Figma
• Communicate concisely, clearly and thoughtfully with all stakeholders, including senior business stakeholders as well as with other engineers.
• Balance strategic thinking and agile implementation.
• Be fluent in Agile ways of working (iterative, customer-focused)
• Simplify and accelerate projects.
• Be innovative and progressive in your approach
• Set high standards across all your work and interactions.
• Be fluent in both spoken and written English (knowledge of German or any other language is a plus).

You will be responsible for:

• Evolving and extending the responsive DataHub interface in React, ensuring it is effective, intuitive and appealing
• Developing new components and their architecture/state
• Optimizing the performance of the interface to ensure the UX is high quality
• Evaluating and recommending technologies and software tools to improve efficiency and productivity.
• Ensuring quality with software development best practices, standards, and guidelines
• Ensuring thorough testing prior to release and establishing/continuing appropriate framework for testing
• Providing technical leadership in UI design and execution
• Documenting and sharing methods, processes, and project results, and regularly communicate and present your findings.
