Description:
YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE AN EXPERT ON THEATRE OR SHAKESPEARE!
The RSC is currently looking for a number of dynamic individuals with infectious enthusiasm to join our Front of House team over the summer. The team is responsible for welcoming visitors to the theatre and hosting the public areas of the building, whilst ensuring the safety of the public during their visit.
We are currently offering fixed-term variable hours contract for 3 months, based on a minimum of 16 hours per week. This is to cover our increased activity over the summer period. There may be an opportunity at the end of this period to extend or move to a permanent contract.
This is not a causal position; we do require a strong commitment to regular hours each week.
Seven days a week, between 10am – 11pm, the Front of House Assistants create an enjoyable and relaxed environment in which visitors can explore the building and engage with the work of the RSC. The team take a positive and proactive lead role in providing a genuine welcome to the public, promoting the RSC, assisting audiences during performances and hosting all our daytime activities. In doing so, the team must ensure the best possible experience for our visitors from all social, economic, and ethnic backgrounds and of all ages. The team consistently works collaboratively in ensuring the safe and smooth running of all public events, responding promptly and appropriately to a variety of unplanned situations. The team works across all the RSC’s public venues in Stratford, which includes working outdoors.
These roles are being specifically recruited to host the building during the day and support the performances in the Holloway Garden Theatre. Therefore, daytime availability is key, and there will generally be no late finishes.
Successful individuals will demonstrate that they:
- Are fun, confident communicators with strong interpersonal skills
- Enjoy identifying and solving problems as well as acting on their own initiative
- Radiate positivity, possess an adaptable attitude and an ability to work under frequently changing conditions
- Remain calm under pressure and dependable in an emergency
- Can be flexible in-regards-to offering availability which covers the RSC’s varying operating hours
With a range of shifts available, these roles may well suit someone studying, as a second job, or with other personal commitments. With four performances on Saturdays, successful applicants will need to be able to provide regular weekend availability.
Access and Inclusion
We are committed to cultivating a diverse and inclusive workplace culture, and welcome and encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds, identities and lived experiences.
We offer support and resources to aid access to the application and interview process, as well as the role itself, should you be successful.
Application Process
All applications should be made online using the RSC website. Suitable candidates will then be invited to interview.
Successful candidates will start on the 8 July 2024. There is a mandatory training date on Sunday 14th July. Please do not apply on this occasion if you are not available on this date.
