ABOUT THE ROLE

In response to the CCQ 2023-2027 Strategic Plan, the Health Systems and Behavioural (HSB) Research team is leading a community-co-designed cancer prevention research project that will involve the collection of large volumes of complex health data via an online platform. The project aims to understand and target a wide range of factors that drive cancer risk, as well as participation in the national screening programs for bowel, breast, and cervical cancers. The knowledge that is generated through these projects will inform the programs and services we provide at CCQ. This work will involve cross-departmental collaboration as well as consumer (i.e., end user) consultation following co-design principles.
This is position a Fixed-Term (1 year), Full-Time (37.5 hours/week) position.

The successful candidate will be required to lead the end-to-end development of the digital platform, from initial prototyping through to final deployment. The role requires an individual with advanced coding skills who is dedicated to delivering an outstanding user experience that aligns with the project scope and objective and has the ability to complete the task within the available timeframe and budget. More specifically, the successful candidate will be tasked to harness their web development experience to:

  • Design and develop a front-end client facing web application, with functioning back-end connections for the continuous collection of complex health data for research studies (the specifics including features and functionalities of this interface will be guided by end user consultations conducted by the research team). Ensuring the platform is secure and mobile-responsive, with a seamless user experience.
  • Build and maintain a back-end database that meets requirements for secure storage and facilitates analysis of individual-level data collected from participants.
  • Gather necessary technical requirements through ongoing collaboration and communication with the research team to deliver the digital platform.
  • Identify (with the research team) and manage appropriate analytics to monitor participation in research as well as overall engagement and usage over time.
  • The platform may require hosting of online resources on behaviour change, prevention and early detection and cancer survivorship care for healthcare professionals and the general public
