The Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and analytical Purchaser to join our dynamic purchasing team. This role is vital in sourcing lumber, building materials, and various other products to ensure the best value, quality, and service for our customers and stores. If you have a keen eye for detail, sound negotiation skills, and a knack for analysis and forecasting, you could be the perfect fit!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive market analysis to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies based on data-driven insights.
  • Manage supplier relationships to ensure quality, timely delivery, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Negotiate with vendors on volume rebates, cash discounts, payment terms, growth incentives, and more.
  • Identify block buy opportunities and assess commodity pricing to support store needs effectively.
  • Provide comprehensive store support, ensuring timely updates on product availability, vendor information, and lead times.
  • Address product issues, facilitating communication between stores and vendors.
  • Maintain and apply pricing updates, conducting comparative price checks.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable strategies.
  • Experience in analysis and/or purchasing related to the building products industry, considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel for data analysis.
  • Strong organizational abilities to multitask, problem solve and prioritize effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective vendor and team interactions.
