Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Ensure the safe performance of team members and that your area of responsibility is maintained in a safe manner.
  • Ensure high-quality production of our products in an environment that meets all customer expectations and regulatory requirements.
  • Accountable for production Associate Employees along with managing employees including scheduling, assigning work, directing, disciplining, coaching, time/attendance/payroll reporting and all other shift related tasks. Follow guidelines provided by Department Managers.
  • Effectively communicate across shifts and with the Management team.
  • Co-ordinate tasks and activities with all departments to improve effectiveness and productivity of the operation.
  • Responsible for operator supervision, training and their compliance to Nav, and SQF reporting and documentation requirements. Responsible for adherence to all SOP’s.
  • Be “audit ready”. Maintaining a continuous state of “audit readiness” is crucial. Physical plant cleanliness, supporting documentation, verifiable CIP frequencies, and required equipment conditions are the foundation of “audit-readiness”.
  • Ensure compliance to Health & Safety, Quality, Food Safety and Environment Management system requirements.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships between yourself and members of Maintenance, QA, Warehouse, and other Operations leaders.
  • Inform other departments of necessary changes or run conditions and report to Operations Manager any problems encountered, and then follow any further instruction provided.
  • Monitor and improve yield.
  • Check tanks and equipment to assure proper CIP completion.
  • Ensure packaging equipment is being maintained in perfect condition by Maintenance team members and Operators. Ensure PM’s and work orders are being written and executed by working closely with the maintenance department personnel.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and assigned items.
  • Responsible for department performance during shift; performance to schedule, performance to target efficiency and losses.
  • Manage team member performance and team results through 1-on-1 coaching, team meetings and communicating issues and actions to appropriate manager.
  • Follow all safety and working rules.
  • Must be able to read and interpret equipment drawings and P&ID’s. Specifically, for fluid processing equipment and packaging equipment.
  • Take inventory of consumables supplies daily ensuring that we have sufficient quantities.
  • Organize and facilitate production line activities to ensure conformance to establish requirements regarding quality, safety, environment, food safety, employee- relations, productivity and cost scheduled volume outputs.
  • Lead product and package yield analysis and continually improve yield. Track, report, investigate and improve yield.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

FOOD SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Notify supervision of any repairs or adjustments that are required that may affect product quality or food safety.
  • Understand, observe, and comply with the handling and usage of the color-coded container policy while in the Production Areas.
  • Perform all duties necessary to meet Company, Customer and/or Government requirements/standards as prioritized by the Company.
  • Ability to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the product, processes, quality system, or safety system.
  • Identify and record any problems relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the ingredients, processes, quality system, or safety system.
  • Control further processing or delivery of nonconforming product in terms of Food Safety and Quality issues until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
  • In the event of absence, another employee with the same skill level will assume the duties and responsibilities as required.

WHAT YOU NEED TO GET THE JOB DONE:

  • A strong food processing background; post-secondary education or equivalent experience with at least 5 years relevant experience in food industry coupled with a minimum of 2 years of Supervisory experience leading a team.
  • An infectious positive spirit to drive your team in keeping their goals in sight and put extra effort to meet deadlines.
  • Down-to-earth communication skills with a genuine presence.
  • Computer proficiency and results oriented in order to learn and build on successes while having the skill to recognize the impact of your decisions on company, customers and team members.
  • Attention to detail is critical; solid aptitude for detailed work and accuracy.
  • Proven leadership and coaching capabilities with a track record of strong conflict resolution skills and ability to maintain positive working relationships with internal and external contacts.
  • Good physical condition to meet the physical demands of the position; ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted or maneuver any package weighing up to 150 pounds with appropriate equipment or assistance from another person.
  • Excellent planning and organizing skills.
  • A thirst for change and innovation: Must be eager to learn and grow and drive for results creatively.
  • You easily and quickly become ‘a part of a team’, have a welcoming personality and are driven by wanting to contribute to our success and service the various Production teams.
  • Must be capable of working evening and weekends in response to production times and business needs as applicable.
