Responsibilities:

PURPOSE:

The Accountant will work closely with the Senior Finance Manager to deliver all statutory financial requirements for a portfolio of Funds within the Direct business. This position is responsible for preparing monthly management reports, variance analysis, monthly balance sheet reconciliations, calculating unit prices, BAS and tax distribution calculations and broader finance responsibilities. This role will also play a key part in delivering year-end financial statements and ensuring a smooth audit process.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

Business as usual (monthly/quarterly):

  • Monthly management pack - preparation of monthly management accounts including analytical commentary and presentation of results to stakeholders, in accordance with the agreed monthly timetable.
  • Balance sheet reconciliations - preparation and sign off of monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • BAS returns - prepare and analyse BAS returns using automated software.
  • Quarterly distribution calculations - preparation of tax calculations to support quarterly distributions.
  • Cashflow management - monitor and manage short-term cash position.
  • Unit pricing - prepare daily unit price calculations in accordance with the Unit Price Procedure and Policy and Fund Constitutions.
  • Regulatory reporting - prepare regulatory reports required by ASIC in accordance with disclosure requirements.
  • Morningstar and MSCI reporting - prepare and submit fund data to external research houses.
  • Property - liaise with internal property managers and property accountants to ensure overall quality of property information.
  • Transactions - liaise with internal transaction team to support upcoming property acquisitions and disposals.
  • Other:
  • Manage timely issuing of specific trust invoices, payment and accurate coding of trust payments and liaison with the shared services team.
  • Ensure that the unit register records for the specific entities are accurate and up to date and work with internal/external registry teams as required.
  • Preparation of CGT calculations and associated financial accounting for any asset divestments.
  • Set up newly acquired properties and trusts in all systems and proceed wind-up process upon divestments accordingly.

Annual reporting activities:

  • Financial statements - preparation of annual and interim general purpose consolidated financial statements to a high standard.
  • Coordination with auditors - preparation of supporting workpapers and responding promptly to queries from auditors.
  • Tax returns - preparation, review & coordination of tax review with external advisors.
  • Compliance certificates - review of debt compliance certificates.

Ad-hoc/non routine:

  • Ad-hoc queries - address queries from internal and external stakeholders and be able to provide technical accounting and tax guidance, as required.
  • Improving processes - pro-actively seek and implement process/systems improvements within the team and across Finance.
  • Ad-hoc/specific projects - take part in ad-hoc projects as part of the delivery of the Direct Finance business plan
  • On-boarding & Off-boarding - process and clear all transactions to close & start up Funds and properties.
  • Team involvement - provide assistance to other team members during heavy workload times and other ad hoc tasks when required.
