JOB SUMMARY

Carries out tests as part of laboratory or job studies or in the industry in accordance with the defined test program.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, DIPLOMAS AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Students currently enrolled in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Tech program, or any science programs will be considered
  • Strong computer knowledge (Ex: Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access)
  • Must possess a valid class 5 driver’s license and current drivers abstract (Must have own vehicle to get to and from work)

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Work experience in a laboratory environment or school laboratory experience is considered an asset
  • Experience in safety regulation (CSTS, Dangerous goods, etc.)

SOFT SKILLS

  • Candidates must possess a strong work ethic
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail
  • Work independently as well as part of a team
  • Good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies
  • Reliability and punctuality is required
  • Ability to follow directions and to respect processes
  • Necessary to stay alert for long periods of time

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct QA/QC testing on liquid asphalt samples
  • Run the tests according to the standard methods used in the industry
  • Read and follow standardized methods
  • Collect samples
  • Check the calibration of laboratory instruments
  • Maintain equipment and facilities
  • Analyze the results of the samples
  • Ensure compliance with regulations on safety and the environment
  • Perform other related duties as required
