POSITION OVERVIEW
Are you a seasoned legal professional ready to make a significant impact in a dynamic and innovative environment? We’re offering a unique fixed-term opportunity (with a possibility for extension) for a 12-month maternity cover, starting September 2024. Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll spearhead our small but exceptional legal and compliance team, handling a diverse range of tech-focused matters both locally in Germany and on an international scale.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert legal counsel to executives across various domains including data protection, labor law, commercial law, partnerships, and international ventures.
- Collaborate closely with management to develop robust defense strategies and ensure efficient compliance.
- Establish and enforce internal governance policies, conducting regular compliance checks.
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis of risk factors associated with business decisions, offering proactive legal guidance.
- Engage in negotiations with external parties such as regulators, external counsel, and customers.
- Partner with product teams to offer legal insights on commercial and data protection aspects.
- Draft and finalize agreements, contracts, and legal documents to safeguard the company’s legal interests.
- Offer clear explanations of legal terms and specifications to all departments within the organization.
- Uphold the highest standards of integrity and responsibility in all legal matters.
- Stay abreast of legislative changes and ensure compliance with evolving regulations.
REQUIREMENTS
- Fully qualified lawyer in German law (additional legal master/bachelor degree in other jurisdiction a plus)
- 5+ years relevant work experience with an in-house/international law firm
- Knowledgeable and experienced with commercial law, IP/IT and GDPR
- Prior experience leading a legal & compliance team
- Appetite to work on different kind of legal matter in a multinational work environment
- Excellent command of English and German (additional other European language is considered a plus)
