Description:

Commercial leader passionate about data science and eager to contribute to the growth and success of the AIA.
Join the Actuarial Institute of Australia (AIA), the leading professional body championing the actuarial profession in Australia. Committed to upholding the highest standards of actuarial practice, AIA supports its members through continuous professional development, ethical standards, professional networks, and contributions to public policy.
We are in search of a dynamic Director focussed on New Business Development to spearhead the establishment of an innovative data science division within AIA. This role will collaborate closely with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team to pioneer cutting-edge products and services, propelling AIA’s growth and purpose to new levels.
This newly created role is fully supported by the CEO and Board to launch a new business line for AIA. We are seeking someone with a strong commercial acumen and a deep understanding of data science to play a pivotal role in AIA’s growth journey. Working alongside the CEO and the existing Executive Leadership Team, you will contribute to the development of new products and service offerings to position AIA as a leader in data science.
As the General Manager responsible for the strategic growth of the Data Science division, you will be tasked with driving business growth while balancing social impact and profitability. Your focus will be on expanding AIA’s market share and identifying strategic opportunities by analysing market trends, assessing competitive landscapes, and proposing innovative approaches. You will also lead efforts to enhance AIA’s brand recognition through leveraging digital channels and establishing partnerships and sponsorships with industry leaders, research institutions, and technology providers.
In addition to your strategic responsibilities, you will foster a positive workplace culture where creativity thrives and collaboration flourishes. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of Data Science and its business applications, along with a proven track record in market research, business development, and relationship building. Strong organisational, negotiation, and project management skills are essential, along with at least a Bachelor’s degree and relevant professional memberships and qualifications.
A competitive remuneration package is on offer reflective of the importance of this role.
