General Manager: Projects and Compliance

JOB ADVERT SUMMARY

Rand Water is currently looking for a General Manager: Projects & Compliance within the Bulk Water Services Business Unit at their Head Offices in Glenvista, in the South of Johannesburg.The successful incumbent will oversee the office of the COO in integrating and tracking of the Bulk Water Service’s business performance to meet internal and external stakeholder demands, as well as implement systems
and procedures to support the efficient and effective management of the COO’s office.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum Education: A Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Building qualification.
• Minimum Experience: A Minimum of 10 years Managerial Experience in the Water Sector.
• Desired Experience: at least 5-8 years’ experience at senior management level in the Water Sector.

KNOWLEDGE

• Minimum Knowledge: Bill of Rights, Water Services Act, PFMA, CIDB, FIDIC, SANS, ISO, etc.
• Extensive knowledge and understanding of bulk water services/utilities environment in corporates.
• In-depth knowledge of relevant statutory requirements impacting on the water industry and general government initiatives that relate to the water industry.

Principal Accountabilities (indicate key business drivers and high level deliverables generated through this role)

• Monitoring of OPSCO outputs, submissions to CEs office, Board, and Board committees, including the shareholder and other external stakeholders.
• Develop effective monitoring and evaluation of business activities and service delivery obligations across all divisions and strategic drivers.
• Manage strategic alignment of business initiatives within Bulk Water Services to the Rand Water strategic pillars and the shareholder compact deliverables.
• Ensure progress reporting on business performance and execution of programmes across the Bulk Water Services value chain.
• Research, analyse patterns and trends to inform operational efficiencies within Bulk Water Services.
• Ensure that documents, reports and presentations for the COO.
• Manage Bulk Water Services enquiries received from internal and external stakeholders on behalf of the COO’s office.
• To oversee high level risks impacting internal and external programs in order to develop mitigation strategies in conjunction with other stakeholders.
• Ensure that Bulk Water Services complies with all internal and external audits, e.g. Internal Audit, Auditor General and the Independent Auditors (SABS, etc.).
• Ensure that audit responses are aligned and comply with defined processes and procedures, as well as established standards.
• Developing, implementing and monitoring and reporting of the COO’s Business Plans, Budget and Annual Performance Reports.
• Overall monitoring of systems and controls in the COO’s environment.
• Contribute towards the Rand Water’s transformation and change journey.
• Ensure the governance compliance activities within the COO’s office.
