Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Division of Surgery as a Directorate General Manager for Surgical Specialities.
We are seeking to recruit a General Manager to provide operational leadership for Urology, Breast, Gynae Oncology and Vascular services. You will work with your triumvirate to deliver the core objectives of the service, Division and Trust. You will be the main point of contact for all matters relating to the services within your portfolio including activity and performance, planning, contracts, finance, governance and risk.

You must be able to demonstrate a strong performance focus and evidence transformation of services you have managed to date. Financially astute, somebody who leads from the front and can think on their feet. An experienced manager who can lead a large team effectively, ensuring performance and activity targets are achieved. You should be able to demonstrate how you have worked collaboratively and successfully with clinical teams over a period of time. You should be passionate about improving care and up for a challenge.

You will need to be resilient, flexible, influential and informative as well as having a ‘can do’ attitude.
You will provide strong credible leadership and drive for service improvement ensuring that relevant staff within the Directorate is empowered to change and develop clinical practice. Accountable for direct delivery of clinical services, managing the providers of direct patient care within the directorate.
You will develop a team ethos between clinicians, clerical and admin and other professions to strengthen commitment and ownership of the corporate aims of the Trust as stated in the Trust’s Business Plan. You will drive the strategic and operational development of the Trust and the Directorate to ensure that the Trust meets all of its objectives in the most efficient, effective and innovative way.
You will be required to analyse data, write reports and attend a variety of senior level meetings and drive change in partnership with the wider team and external stakeholders.
The post holder is accountable to the Divisional Director of Operations for the delivery of service, ensuring efficient and effective management of all resources in order to deliver safe, high quality and effective patient care in an environment of continuous improvement.
The post holder is responsible for supporting the Divisional Director of Operations in formulating and implementing service delivery plans and managing the business activities to ensure delivery of its operational and strategic objectives.
