Description:

SUCCESS REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in environmental and climate-focused sustainability leadership roles, preferably within the building products industry or related sectors.
  • Experience with ASX listed companies on TCFD reporting and interaction with Boards and Board Committees.
  • Strong understanding of ESG frameworks, regulations, and best practices.
  • A track record in developing and implementing comprehensive sustainability strategies addressing all ESG factors.
  • Strong technical knowledge of sustainability compliance requirements and reporting frameworks (e.g., ASRS, NGERS, ISO 14001, GRI, CDP).
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to analyse data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Passion for sustainability and a commitment to environmental and social impact.
  • Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to drive change and influence decision-making.
  • Proven skills in managing successful teams and engaging with peers to drive sustainability initiatives.
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, sustainability, engineering, business, or a related field.
  • Must be willing to travel nationally and internationally as needed.

Responsibilities:

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Develop and execute global strategies for energy use, emissions reduction, resource conservation, recycling, pollution reduction, waste elimination, transportation, supply chain optimisation, and sustainable building design.
  • Create methodologies to assess the viability and success of sustainability initiatives.
  • Establish and manage sustainability goals in collaboration with the Board of Directors and executive team.
  • Evaluate and approve sustainability project proposals for cost-effectiveness and technical feasibility.
  • Prepare project proposals and grant applications for sustainability funding.
  • Maintain comprehensive sustainability program documents, including schedules and budgets.
  • Review and direct programs ensuring compliance with policies, standards, regulations, and laws.
  • Manage sustainability-driven change and innovation by engaging with stakeholders internally and externally.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate sustainability into product development, manufacturing, supply chain management, and marketing.
  • Cultivate partnerships with external organisations, NGOs, industry associations, and government agencies.
  • Promote sustainability awareness among employees through training, communication, and recognition programs.
  • Oversee the development of marketing for sustainability projects and events.
  • Establish KPIs and metrics to measure the effectiveness of sustainability programs and report progress to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in sustainability practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of sustainability programs.
  • Oversee and report on the organisation’s sustainability results to the Board of Directors.
  • Ensure compliance with external reporting obligations related to sustainability and climate, including ASRS and NGERS.
