Description:

ChampionX is currently looking for a Geomatics Engineer – Emissions in Calgary, Canada. The Geomatics Engineer will support and/or lead designing, developing, and maintaining both hardware and software emissions solutions. As a member of the team, you will play a crucial role in guiding technical decisions, providing geospatial guidance, and contributing to the overall success of our projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geomatics, Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical field.
  • Experience in C/C++ software development, debugging and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with RTOS and embedded firmware development.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python.
  • Experience working with GIS tools like ArcGIS, QGIS, or MapInfo.
  • Familiarity with geospatial libraries and frameworks, such as GDAL, PostGIS, or GeoTools.
  • Experience with RESTful or GraphQL Web APIs.
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect, Azure Developer) are a plus.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience developing progressive web applications using ReactJS, Angular is a plus.
  • Knowledge of geospatial web services (e.g., WMS, WFS, RESTful APIs)
  • Experience with time-series databases like Influx DB or similar tools like Prometheus, Timescale DB, Datadog etc.,
  • Experience in Oil and Gas business domain is a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Be accountable for the design of automated and manual test plans for our hardware and software products.
  • Interfacing with marketing, product managers and the systems team to create robust and complete requirements.
  • Defining, together with the software architect, functional and performance requirements, design, code and testing to meet schedule for production releases.
  • Exploring new advancements in positioning and finding ways to incorporate them into our products.
  • Driving the design and verification of software features throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Supporting the development and enhancement of GNSS and GNSS augmentation technology.
  • Collaborating with verification designers to plan and execute tests, and to develop automated test suites.
  • Analyzing data using graphical and statistical tools to evaluate solutions and identify and investigate possible firmware defects.
  • Support escalated customer support cases through to resolution.
  • Be responsible for product testing, including formal testing and ad-hoc testing.
  • Be responsible for providing product feedback.
  • Assist with the creation of acceptance criteria for new features.
  • Participate in the development of technical manuals and training materials.
