The Geophysicist role will begin in a part-time consulting role working a minimum of 3 days per week for 2-3 months. Once the consulting term ends, the role will then be reviewed and may transition into a permanent full-time position.
Who are you?
We are seeking a personable, confident and a motivated Geophysicist Consultant looking to join our dynamic Exploration team. Reporting to the Exploration Manager this position will play a key role in ORLEN Upstream Canada’s assets, consisting of Montney development in Kakwa and Cardium development in the Ferrier and Lochend regions.

What will you do?

  • 3D seismic depth conversion at multiple reservoir levels
  • Characterize regional faults and localized fractures utilizing 3D seismic
  • Familiar with quantitative interpretation techniques
  • Analyze pre-stack inversion and relate elastic property estimates to predict dynamic geo-mechanical and reservoir properties
  • Generate multiple seismic attributes for use in multi-variate statistics
  • Integrate geologic information into the seismic interpretation
  • Analyze micro seismic data for maximum data generation
  • Stay current on seismic innovations regarding unconventional reservoirs
  • Be an integral part of the development team promoting interdisciplinary collaboration

How will you be successful?

  • University Degree or higher in Geophysics with a P.Geoph designation is required
  • Minimum of 10 years or more of relevant experience in the oil and gas industry
  • Exposure to unconventional resource plays with previous experience working Montney and Cardium is preferred
  • Familiarity with geomechanical models is an asset
  • Strong technical/computer skills with demonstrated experience in ESS, Seisware, GeoScout and other seismic inversion software
  • Operations experience in planning, drilling and geosteering horizontal wells is essential
  • Experience using DAS (Distributed Acoustic Sensing) is an asset
  • An independent, self-starter with a strong ability to take initiative
  • Highly motivated and works effectively in a team environment
