POSITION OVERVIEW

Our engineering group is responsible for managing engineering assignments in support of McNally’s construction projects in both the United States and Canada. As part of the engineering group, you will have the opportunity to work with other structural and geotechnical engineers, members of our interdisciplinary engineering team, as well as estimators, schedules and construction experts to provide advice on construction methodology, risk and the design of temporary works.
The primary duties of this engineer will include performing both permanent and temporary geotechnical engineering in support of a variety of Transportation, Marine, Tunneling, projects. A strong academic background, excellent communication skills, and an ability to work well in a team environment are considered essential for this position.
As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will work on interdisciplinary teams that include structural, civil, drainage, mechanical, electrical, and materials engineers, as well as estimators, schedulers and other construction professionals, to perform geotechnical engineering analyses and design. You will be involved in planning and executing field investigation programs, performing geotechnical engineering analyses, and producing construction documents and engineering reports.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education Requirement:
University Degree in Civil, Structural or Geotechnical Engineering
Experience Requirements:
Minimum 5 years Geotechnical / Geostructural Engineering Experience.
Knowledge of heavy civil construction and knowledge in structural or soil/rock-structure interaction design.
Professional in Geotechnical designs and familiar with Temporary and Permanent work designs (Steel, Concrete and Timber structures) .,
Innovative and creative in developing technical solutions
Experienced in CAD software and Geotechnical software (RS2 / PLAXIS)
Experience in Marine works will be an asset.

Base Compensation: $95,000/yr - $122,000/yr
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)

Responsibilities:

In this role, you will utilize geotechnical engineering knowledge under the direction of an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to complete technical engineering assignments in support of McNally business, including:

  • Providing project support during the proposal/bid phase; working with team members to complete engineering analyses in support of innovative and cost-effective design solutions to geotechnical problems and challenges.
  • Working on design-build and EPC projects, including developing design recommendations and producing design deliverables.
  • Performing and overseeing subsurface investigations, field testing, and construction oversight.
  • Producing engineering reports, drawings, and detailed calculation packages.
  • Provides soil-structure interaction design or analysis, particularly Support for excavations for shafts and tunnels (Soft/Rock by TBM, NATM) ;
  • Perform design and analysis using various industry standard engineering software for underground structures, excavations, foundations, slopes, etc. in Canada and the United States;
  • Reviews geotechnical reports and laboratory test result from ground investigation for design purposes as well as interpretation of Geotechnical Baseline and/or Data reports (GBRs/ GDRs);
  • Prepares design reports, design calculations, drawings and specification
  • Ensures that the McNally/Kiewit Policies and Procedures are adhered and applied in all design work;
  • Ensures that all designs comply with all relevant design standards and codes.
  • Perform in-house peer review for engineering designs by Project Staff as required;
  • Travel to sites as required to perform field verification of designs;
