As a GHG Performance and Energy Efficiency Student, you will provide engineering technical support to our energy and GHG calculations and reports. This is also a great opportunity to work with technical experts to help us develop and implement large-scale GHG reduction initiatives across our operating facilities.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current enrollment in a post-graduate/Master’s program in engineering, environmental science, or business (with a background in engineering or environmental science) at an accredited post-secondary institution
  • Please attach your most recent transcripts with your application
  • Flexibility in handling multiple tasks and priorities with outstanding attention to detail
  • Strong computer skills with intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Knowledge working with PowerBI considered a valued asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the engineering team in analyzing and preparing GHG performance data for regulatory compliance submissions and external disclosures, including supporting the third-party verification process.
  • Develop knowledge of energy and GHG emissions quantification methodologies, and provincial and federal carbon regulations.
  • Provide support to development teams to advance energy efficiency improvement projects.
  • Develop understanding of GHG compliance costs and economic impacts
  • Collaborate with business unit contacts across Suncor’s organization to assess GHG performance and develop opportunities for more efficient operations.
  • Assist with data analytics, modeling, and stewardship reporting.

Location and other Key Details:

  • This is an 8 or 12-month work term that can start anytime between June and September 2024
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
  • This role may require occasional travel to our operating sites in the Wood Buffalo Region
