Job Summary:
Global Automation Controls Technician for support of Manufacturing Globally. Duties out lined in job description include supporting, developing, creating, testing, and implementing PLC programming and HMI builds required to control automation equipment, molding equipment and Robotic equipment as well as responsibilities of an Automation Technician when needed on site.
Knowledge | Experience | Skills:
High School Diploma/GED, associate degree in PLC Programming or 3 Years’ programming experience. PLC (GE & Allen Bradley) programming and troubleshooting. Understand/interpret electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical drawings and specifications; able to utilize a wide variety of precision measuring instruments. Basic Knowledge of Ethernet. Use of RS Logix 500. General knowledge of machining, part design, CAD, Injection Molding, and manufacturing operations. Willing to expand education of new technologies as they develop.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support installation, commissioning, repair, troubleshooting and programming of automation machines, molding equipment and HMI’s.
  • PLC (Programmable Logic Controls) programming and troubleshooting, setting up VFD drives and other electromechanical control systems.
  • Work with live and low/high voltage electrical systems in accordance with OSHA and NFPA70 standards.
  • Work with controls, drives, clutches and pneumatic systems on mechanical equipment.
  • Capable of setting up and maintaining vision systems for inspection.
  • Work from drawings, blueprints, schematics, sketches, specifications, wiring diagrams, and manuals.
  • Work with all phases of preventive maintenance, Predictive maintenance, condition monitoring systems, control systems, and instrumentation and network systems.
  • Knowledgeable in electrical wiring of control cabinets and repair automation and electrical problems on the floor when necessary. Knowledge of the control cabinets will consist of DIN rail style panel building with terminal block terminations. Will be exposed to various voltage levels such as 120/208 VAC, 133/230 VAC, 277/480 VAC, and 24 VDC.
  • Knowledge of the Ethernet I/P network currently being utilized in the industry.
  • HMI programming and troubleshooting.
  • Must be knowledgeable in and practice all safety procedures, quality processes, and company policies.
  • Responsible for assisting with design reviews of automation.
  • Responsible for the generation of cost saving opportunities related to automation and the presentation of this to management on a regular basis.
  • Manage and schedule automation machine rebuilds.
  • Responsible for procurement of purchase orders and coordinating automation activities for automation projects with suppliers.
  • Work with each plant’s continuous improvement teams on automation improvement projects.
  • Must be hands-on, self-motivated and work well with team members and customers.
  • Able to travel Globally to other Technimark facilities and vendors as needed.
