BG&C is ANZ’s Control Officer role in our Non-Financial Risk Framework. It is one of Seven critical accountability families across the Three Lines of Defence, that operate within the Group Risk Management Framework to ensure ANZ manages Non-Financial risk within appetite.
As the Control Officer for the Institutional Division, BG&C holds the following responsibilities:
Drives the cultural change and embedding of the NFR Framework and associated policy requirements on behalf of the business and its ultimate Line 1 Risk Owner (the Group Executive)
Measures and monitors NFR, ensuring Line 1 operates within the Framework and Appetite
Partners with Risk Owners to oversee the discharge of their accountabilities for end-to-end risk management within Line 1
Advises Control Owners in their design and implementation of Controls suitable for managing Line 1 risks and meeting external and internal requirements;
Consolidate on behalf of Line 1, NFR stakeholder management, governance and Controls effectiveness testing;
Catalyst to identifying and understanding future and emerging strategic risks relevant to Line 1

What will your day look like
This is a key role within the Institutional Division’s Business Governance & Controls leadership team, reporting to the Head of BG&C for the Division. The role is the conduit between the Global Function and the country network, and is accountable for key items including, but not limited to:
Ensuring all Country oversight BG&C teams serve as effective Control officers under the prescribed requirements of ANZ’s Non-Financial Risk framework
Working with Country CEOs to manage the in-country BG&C teams ~ at present this is approx. 40 FTE
Partnering with Country and International Leadership Teams to discharge their accountabilities as Risk Owners and Control Owners and providing expertise to ensure Non-Financial risk is effectively managed in line with ANZ and Divisional, policies, procedures and frameworks
Leading and co-ordinating country deliverables on behalf of the global BG&C function i.e. CPS220 attestations, event escalations, multi-jurisdictional risk assessments)
Championing NFR programs and representing Global Coverage in design and leading stakeholder engagement in execution i.e. NFR Governance uplift, International Sourcing Working Group, International Regulatory Reporting Best Practice Working Group, CPS230 compliance/ Operational resilience uplift and
Driving sound risk culture across the International network, promoting ‘risk is everyone’s responsibility’ and embedding Non-Financial Risk across the first line of defence.

THE “MUST HAVE” KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES:

Extensive relevant experience in the banking and financial services sector
Experience leading a remote and distributed workforce, preference will be given to candidates with experience of working internationally.
Experience navigating varied cultural contexts while leading, planning and executing change
Deep knowledge of ANZ’s Non-Financial risk framework
Structured and strategic thinking skills
Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively
Demonstrated ability to use and apply innovative solutions to effectively manage Non-Financial risk.
Strong influencing and negotiation skills backed up by excellent communication ability, written and verbal
Curiosity and an adaptive and growth mindset.
The “good to have” knowledge, skill and experience (KSE) the role requires are:
Understanding of ANZ’s Institutional Business structure and function
Familiarity with the Non-Financial Risk transformation in progress
Experience engaging with Global teams including the Group Capability Centre.
