Description:

Main Purpose:
The Global Head of Storage will be responsible for managing the overall third party storage lease position for Trafigura, which currently has an overall expenditure of >$1B annually.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience in the Energy terminals industry
  • Strong commercial understanding of market costs and economics
  • Deep understanding of storage logistics, including warehouse management, inventory control, and transportation, with knowledge of regulatory requirements and best practices
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and make strategic recommendations
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience in building and managing high-performing teams in a global environment
  • Proven track record of driving operational excellence in a global commodity trading environment
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certifications are a plus

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and implement a data driven strategy to get optimum rates and locations for the Company
  • Supervise the Storage Approval Process, internal data flows and reporting across all business lines
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for storage operations to support the company’s trading activities and growth objectives
  • Oversee the management of storage facilities, including warehouses, tanks, and other storage infrastructure, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards
  • Optimize inventory management processes to minimize holding costs, optimize utilization, and mitigate risks associated with commodity price fluctuations and market dynamics
  • Collaborate with trading teams to forecast storage requirements, optimize inventory levels, and develop hedging strategies to manage price risk
  • Establish and maintain relationships with storage providers, negotiate contracts, and monitor service levels to ensure cost-effective and reliable storage solutions
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of storage professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship to drive continuous improvement and achieve operational excellence
  • Monitor industry trends, technology advancements, and regulatory changes affecting storage operations, and recommend innovative solutions to improve efficiency and competitiveness
  • Prepare regular reports and analysis on storage performance, inventory levels, and operational KPIs, and present findings to senior management to support decision-making
