Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Global Head, Strategic Sourcing to join our team. The Global Head, Strategic Sourcing will be responsible for building and developing a virtual global team that will leverage global buying power balanced with regional needs. Directing the global Strategic Sourcing team, this role will be accountable for establishing category strategies which deliver value to the business, seeking to exploit scale economies, whilst recognizing the diverse nature of the business, and differing needs. The incumbent will identify and priorities sourcing opportunities and oversee their implementation in order to achieve cost savings and deliver against annual targets. As well as team leadership skills, this will also require close collaboration with Procurement Operations and the business lines/functions in the relevant category areas.
This will be a remote/virtual position that can be based from a variety of locations in the US, UK, and Canada.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Business (or other related degree programs) plus at least 12 years of Strategic Sourcing/Procurement experience, including Performance Measurement, Contract Negotiation, Project Management, Category Management, Business Analysis or Change Management experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • At least 4 years of leadership experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MBA preferred
  • Experience with similarly large, complex, global organizations
  • Nationally recognized professional certification preferred (i.e. Certified Purchasing Manager)
  • Proficiency in Purchase-to-pay tools (e.g. Coupa)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Strong knowledge of strategic sourcing methodology with pragmatism to manage exceptions
  • Ability to develop category and sourcing strategies by identifying opportunity areas
  • Track record of effectively directing and leveraging procurement spend in assigned category areas by leading global cross-functional teams
  • Experience managing and maintaining strong supplier relationships and leading an SRM program
  • Strong leadership presence and negotiation/contract management experience
  • Knowledge and experience with procurement/spend systems data and analysis
  • Advanced delegation skills to assign tasks to the sourcing team and to ensure conformance to budget and schedule
  • Strong interpersonal and management capabilities to manage and develop Sourcing Specialists and Category Analysts
  • Must have strong organizational skills
  • Strong problem solving, analytical and report summation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to apply change management and consulting skills/knowledge and expertise
  • Team Building, Technical knowledge and expertise, high degree of business acumen, management, and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the development of category strategies to achieve cost savings and improve quality and service levels by identifying opportunity areas such as product standardization and supplier consolidation
  • Address all areas of category management including category strategies, work plans, market conditions & opportunities for cost reduction and value delivery
  • Directs the evaluation of company strategic plans to identify goods and services to meet company goals
  • Directs the preparation, implementation and prioritization of global sourcing strategies and plans
  • Collaborate with Finance and Operations to set annual budgets, targets and alignment of financial plans
  • Collaborate with Business Unit leaders to prioritize opportunities, enterprise-led initiatives & value contribution targets as part of an overall strategic plan to deliver value to the organization
  • Align the spend taxonomy with category management structures to deliver savings initiatives in line with plans
  • Responsible for implementing, managing and driving continuous improvement within ESG supplier relationship management program and category management framework
  • Works with the legal department to resolve supplier or subcontractor exceptions to terms and conditions
  • Manages resolution of supplier or subcontractor disputes/ claims
  • Oversees the evaluation of the supplier and subcontractor performance and recommends appropriate action
  • Seeks appropriate counsel from management as required to meet complex sourcing issues
  • Assists the review of company policies and procedures and makes recommendations for improvement as needed
  • Recommends sourcing policies and procedures to govern procurement work
  • Manages sourcing processes and reviews for compliance with applicable procedures
  • Develop annual plans and long-term forecasts for costs, savings targets, and planned projects for assigned categories; conduct analysis to identify improvement opportunities; recommend key actions and gain support from appropriate business stakeholders; prioritize projects and allocate team resources
  • Oversees Category Managers and assists with negotiation strategy, meetings and agreements when needed
  • Develops training and development program for sourcing; conducts training sessions as appropriate
  • Mentors and trains staff as requested; identifies high potential employees
  • Develop robust tracking and reporting of savings
