SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

The successful candidate will have experience within the Energy sector, preferably in a professional services environment or one where there is an understanding of how legal services relate to clients in the sector. This is a highly rewarding role for those who have a passion for really understanding the market. Those working in the team are involved in highly strategic work that is capable of transforming economies, and in particular delivering practical solutions to address climate change.

This role is global in scope, with responsibility for client and business development in all markets. The sector focusses on a diversified energy mix, albeit anchored around a clear focus towards the transition to a low carbon global energy economy. The team has particular expertise in offshore and onshore wind, solar, hydrogen, alternative fuels and nuclear. Clients include a mix of investment funds, developers, offtakers, State Owned Entities and more conventional utilities, as well as strategic long term relationships with some of the global energy giants.
Additionally, with clients focused on decarbonization and how to transition – this sector is at the forefront of our ESG activities, helping clients to achieve their climate goals, taking carbon out of their business models to transition to Net Zero.

Strategy:

• To take a leading role in identifying client and market trends and how our advice and market positioning can be advanced, in response, to support our aim of being a global leader in this field
• To work with lead Partners on structuring our service offering, products and marketing activities to engage clients globally, securing new mandates and developing existing client relationships
• Be a subject matter expert on the global capabilities of the firm within the sector, proactively engaging with key partners and associates across our international jurisdictions to support their practices
• Deliver a clearly thought-through, actionable client & market plan. Enabling the sector to work with our wider practice, sector and in-country teams, to draw-in relevant insight and content (litigation, employment, regulatory, finance, M&A, etc.) ensuring consistency of message, approach and success of the sector in growth areas
• Structure the team and our wider ‘sector squad’ (comprises marketers from other disciplines) to deliver and be accountable for the execution of the strategy and our marketing plans
