Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As a Selection and Assessment Program Manager, you will be at the forefront of building, developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive, enterprise-wide skills and assessment programs. These programs focus on optimizing our selection process to hire quality talent as we grow. You are a strategic problem solver with deep expertise in skills and leadership behaviors, driven by a passion for organizational success.
This role is open to candidates residing in Canada or the US except Alaska, Austin metro, California, Chicago metro, Connecticut, Dallas metro, Denver metro, Houston metro, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Washington, and Washington DC metro.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:

Program Management

  • Manage a comprehensive pre-employment selection and assessment process to identify top talent and ensure a strong fit with our organization’s culture, operating principles, and values.
  • Build and implement an enterprise-wide skills and assessment programs that align with business needs and strategies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish skills as the foundation for career growth, workforce planning, and learning and development.
  • Design, implement, and validate selection tools, including pre-employment assessment batteries, structured interviews, and business cases.

Analysis & Consulting

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on selection & assessment, offering clear guidance and execution on program implementation.
  • Conduct job analysis to identify critical skills and develop examination plans that effectively assess skills and capabilities.
  • Create, review, and interpret statistical analyses to establish measures and cut-off scores, evaluate assessment data, provide actionable insights, and ensure robust data validation and advanced analytics.
  • Collaborate with others to define job requirements, skills, capabilities, and selection criteria for roles across our enterprise.

Improve & Monitor

  • Provide expert guidance on evaluation processes with inclusiveness and bias avoidance.
  • Monitor and examine skills across the enterprise to gather key data insights and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrate business impact, continuously monitoring and improving the effectiveness of selection processes and assessment tools.
  • Provide training and guidance to the People team, Recruiting, and hiring managers on the implementation of selection processes, assessment tools and best practices in talent acquisition.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations on selection and assessment.
  • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE:

  • A graduate degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Learning & Development, Leadership/Organization Development, statistics.
  • 6+ years of experience in HR, Selection and Assessment, Talent Management, or Organizational Effectiveness within large or complex environments.
  • 2+ years of experience using project management tools (e.g., project charters, project plans, and communication plans).
  • Experience in testing and assessment applied to hiring and/or promotion, including developing/administering validated assessments.
  • Experience using statistical programming languages such as Python, R, or SPSS.
  • Demonstrated program management and organizational skills, capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously.
