HJF is seeking a Global Support Specialist to support the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) in Miesau, Germany. This position will be hybrid and a PEO hire. The Global Support Specialist will perform administrative, liaison, and logistics functions to support DPAA partner missions in the Europe/Mediterranean region.
This position will be in support of the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, Partnerships and Innovations Directorate (DPAA PI). The DPAA is the US Department of Defense Agency responsible for the recovery and identification of fallen US service members from WWII to the gulf war. Its mission is to provide the fullest possible accounting of missing personnel to their families and the nation. To accomplish this, the DPAA sends out organic and partner investigation and recovery missions worldwide, and recovered material is analyzed in the state-of-the-art DPAA laboratory. DPAA expands its recovery and identification capacity and capabilities through various innovation initiatives, and partners with research and academic institutes to address research requirements.
The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF’s support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitors DPAA partner field activities in Europe, and worldwide as needed, to ensure proper planning, budgeting, and assessment of PI Operations. Works closely with partners and PI program areas to ensure continuity and sufficiency of field activities.
  • Assists to ensure that DPAA Partnership activities follow all relevant host nation laws/policies, assists in determining immigration and permit requirements, and, after coordination with the responsible DPAA manager, support permit applications by partners to ensure that such permits are secured in a timely manner.interdependencies, aligning resources and efforts where appropriate.
  • Assists in host nation permitting and liaison functions required to enable DPAA’s investigative and recovery partnership teams to operate effectively within the Europe-Mediterranean region. Provide in-region expertise and perspective during both the DPAA partners’ mission planning cycle and mission execution. Assists in conducting post-mission assessments and provides timely feedback for future mission adjustments.
  • Assist with coordinating, facilitating, and tracking all phases and aspects of DPAA partners’ field efforts to include host nation permits, customs and immigration procedures, equipment and supplies importation, determining field team locations, lodging, local procurement/contracting of goods and services, occasional field investigative functions, and any other required processes.
  • Assists with supplies and equipment management, logistics/transport (bicons), field support and site assessments.
  • Engages in and supports partner development at the direction of PI management.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Business Administration or Life Sciences field of study preferred.
  • Minimum of 6-8 years experience required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of DPAA mission planning, execution, and logistical support
  • Solid Interpersonal skills, including the ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing, and identify and resolve problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule, and coordinate activities to meet deadlines..
  • Fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Candidate must be able to lift up to 25 Lbs
  • must be able to sit at a desk for long periods of time
