GM of Finance for leading property management business based in the CBD - Temp to Perm opportunity
THE COMPANY
Our client is an expanding, family-owned, and innovative property investment and management group operating with a strategic focus on maximizing returns from a diverse and substantial portfolio of assets. They have a turnover of around $55M with $950M worth in assets. With a proven track record of success, the company has established itself as a respected player in the real estate industry. The management team, though compact, operates seamlessly with an integrated approach, ensuring that each member brings unique expertise to the table. Currently, the company is seeking a talented GM of Finance on a temp-to-perm basis, and available within short notice, to join a close-knit team in a family office environment.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the CFO and with a dotted line to the Managing Director, your main responsibilities will include:
Managing a team of 5-6 talented Finance professionals
- Lead and manage Finance and Administration operations
- Ensure day-to-day operations align with the core purpose, including effective controls and processes.
- Oversight of the month-end and year-end process.
- Financial Reporting as well as efficient management accounting and decision support.
- Business Partnering closely with the Property and Operation divisions.
- Implement effective controls, policies, and procedures for administration, finance, accounting and IT.
- Assess and enhance existing controls, emphasizing efficiency and relevance to management decision support tools.
- Identify and eliminate unnecessary work that doesn’t contribute to effective control or useful decision support.
- Proactively address and resolve matters, avoiding unresolved issues between teams.
- Hold colleagues accountable within Property and Operations teams or escalate issues to the CFO and/or COO for timely resolution.
- Act as the central management point, serving as the primary contact for the MD, CFO, and COO.
- Improve existing processes within the finance function.
- Budgeting & Forecasting
- Financial Modelling in Excel
- Project accounting and reporting.
- Oversight of the Annual Audit and liaising with external auditors.
- Hold Finance accountable for accurate and timely payment of accounts and revenue collection, requiring clear responsibilities with Operations and Property teams.
- Provide oversight and guidance for the development and delivery of relevant monthly reporting packages, incorporating all pertinent KPIs.
- Collaborate with the CFO to manage the treasury function.
- Other ad-hoc tasks that may include Operations support.
