SALARY - £41,418- £46,464 (GRADE 7)
Contract - 1 post, 37 Hours permanent
An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a Governance Manager within the fund’s Governance, Risk and Assurance team.
The Fund is one of the UK’s largest pension funds providing, from it’s ‘state of the art’ new building at i9 in Wolverhampton, local authority pension benefits for employees across the West Midlands. The Fund manages and administers the pension interests of over 330,000 scheme members, 800+ employers and currently has over £20 billion in assets under management.
We are seeking a highly organised and flexible Governance Manager to be responsible for the development, implementation and delivery of an effective Governing Body Management framework, including responsibility for statutory reporting (S101 committee management), and responsibility for an effective Governing Body training program which meets the requirements of regulating bodies.
The position includes responsibility for:-
- To be responsible for embedding an effective Information Governance Framework ensuing compliance with Data Protection and Freedom of Information legislation
- To be responsible for the effective implementation of the Governing Body training policy, including the design and management of an effective training program which meets the statutory requirements for knowledge and skill of Governing Body members.
- To maintain, interpret and report on any training undertaken and to utilise training needs analyses to formulate future strategies and solutions.
- To design effective communication materials which support the ongoing development of Governing Body knowledge and pension awareness.
- To be a primary point of contact on all matters relating to Governing Body matters, including membership (elections and appointments), training, and engagement and to regularly report outcomes to the Head of Governance, Risk and Assurance.
- To support other areas of the Governance, Risk and Assurance Team as required in the overall delivery of an effective Governance and Assurance Framework.
The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level in a relevant field or have equivalent experience. They will have substantial experience of working within a regulated environment and influencing change in working practice across the wider organisation across a variety of service areas.

Some roles are agile which enable and empowers employees to maximise their performance and productivity, whilst maintaining a healthy work life balance. Roles with a fixed workstyle work in a fixed permanent council location. Roles with a field workstyle are usually allocation where employees are required to be out working in the community with a minimum requirement for ‘touch down’ space at any council location. Roles with a flexible workstyle have a flexible base location to meet the needs of the business and employees can work from a mixture of home or any council office, partner/client, or external location, as required to meet service requirements.
