Description:

Northumbria is one of eleven LEPs, including Malaysia, co-ordinating, directing and developing medical student teaching. There is strong teaching and academic activity across the whole Trust, coordinated by the Education Directorate.
The Trust devolves all SIFT income (Service Increment For Teaching) to teaching ventures under the direction of Dr Cath Huntley, Director for Undergraduate Medical Education (Newcastle University) at Northumbria Trust. Within the Education Directorate there are many undergraduate tutors, junior doctors, pharmacists, senior nurses, health care assistants and administrators supporting medical education.
The University and the Trust are keen to maintain high standards of education, and new appointments will make a significant contribution to this, under the direction of the Director for Undergraduate Medical Education (Newcastle University).
The post holder will lead on coherent integration of primary care themes through the MBBS curriculum including (but not limited to) public health, lifestyle medicine and Persistent Physical Symptoms.
Provide a senior leadership role within the faculty including supervision and mentoring of Teaching Fellows, nurses and AHPs
Work with the Inter-professional Learning (IPL) Lead to support further development of IPL within the Trust
Support the 4th year ACE leads and contribute to academic mentoring, group tutoring and student catch ups.
Participate in undergraduate assessments including in-course and end point examinations.
Participate in Faculty Development.
We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. We also care for people in their homes and provide services from facilities in local communities such as health centres. We give people greater choice and control over their care to help them to live independently at home and avoid hospital admission where appropriate. High quality patient care is at the heart of everything we do and we strive to ensure every single patient and service user has an exceptional experience with us. We have one of the most extensive patient experience programmes of any trust in England.
