Description:

Wood has a requirement for a Graduate Engineer – Subsea to join our Consulting team in Perth as part of our 2025 intake.
To be considered you should have completed your Mechanical / Civil / Subsea Engineering degree by the end of 2024 or earlier.
We are looking for a dynamic, digital and tech savvy individual who is resilient, versatile and seeking a role within a fast paced environment. Our ideal candidate will have a keen interest in subsea engineering, holding a Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering degree, Masters in Subsea Engineering or Professional Engineering. We welcome new members of the team that add value and assist the wider team of engineers and project leads in delivering scopes on allocated projects.
Internal training and mentoring will support your professional development, allowing you the opportunity to apply advanced subsea and pipeline engineering solutions and project management, within a technical framework.

There are a variety of tasks and responsibilities you might be assigned however some common tasks that many of our Graduate engineers perform include:

  • Assisting senior engineers with projects: You may be asked to help with research, testing, or other tasks related to ongoing projects
  • Learning Wood processes and procedures: It’s important to understand how Wood operates and the specific procedures and protocols you’ll be expected to follow
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams: Engineering projects often involve multiple disciplines and teams, so you may need to work with colleagues from other areas of Wood
  • Debugging and troubleshooting: If a product or system isn’t working as intended, you may be called upon to help identify and resolve the problem
  • Preparing reports and presentations : You may need to communicate your findings and progress to your team, manager, or other stakeholders
  • Continuously improving your skills and knowledge: The engineering field is constantly evolving, so it’s important to stay up to date with new developments and best practices
  • Gain hands on experience and make an impact from day one
  • Develop expertise in your field of study, within a fast-paced and complex project environment
  • Work within a cohesive team of world-class industry expertise making impact in the APAC region
  • Work collaboratively in an inclusive and supportive technical environmentExecute self-learning initiatives to improve knowledge and competency in areas of subsea equipment, structures, dynamic risers, pipelines and energy transition or related disciplines

What we look for in these roles:

  • Completed your Mechanical / Civil / Subsea Engineering degree by the end of 2024 or earlier
  • Strong IT , software and data interrogation skills
  • Coding experience ( Python , VBA , others) and Machine Learning skills are advantageous
  • MS Power App , Power BI experience are advantageous
  • Attention to detail: You will be responsible for creating detailed designs and specifications and must pay close attention to detail to ensure the accuracy and safety of the work
  • Teamwork: Most engineering projects require collaboration and teamwork, so strong interpersonal and collaboration skills are essential
  • Adaptability: Engineering is a constantly evolving field, and as a Graduate engineer you should be able to adapt to new technologies and techniques
  • Problem solving: Engineering often requires finding creative solutions to complex problems. Good critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills are highly valued
  • Communication skills: The ability to communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner is important for a Graduate engineer. This includes the ability to write reports, give presentations, and explain complex technical concepts to non-technical colleagues
  • Continuous Learning: Technologies and methodologies are constantly changing so staying up to date is an important attribute
  • Creativity: have that innate ability to “think outside the box”
  • Analytical ability: ability to think analytically to fully define a problem and develop solutions suited to the problem
  • Logical thinking: ability to understand how a system works, what can go wrong and how to fix it. This requires the ability to think logically and evaluate and understand each element that makes up the system
  • Leadership: well-developed “human skills” so you can smoothly perform non-technical duties
  • Respect for health and safety protocols: this is more of a requirement than a skill but adherence to policies that aim to eliminate or mitigate risk is a necessit
