Description:
Ayrton Group have an immediate requirement for a Graduate/Junior Health and Safety Officer working on a project with a leading construction group in the Killarney region.
This is a 9-month contract role with the potential for extension. The successful candidate will report to the Health & Safety Manager.
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of a relevant third level qualification
- On-site experience through placement or work experience in Construction Health & Safety.
- An interest in pursuing further professional Health & Safety certification
- Safe Pass and Manual Handling required.
- Ability to work on own initiative and be innovative.
- Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- You must be legally permitted to live and work in Ireland.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with regular site audits/inspections to ensure health and safety compliance to Company and Client procedures/rules.
- Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics (noise levels, use of machinery etc.).
- Review existing policies and measures and update according to legislation.
- Assist in the initiation and organization health and safety training of employees and executives.
- Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g. not using protective equipment.
- Assist with incident reporting and near misses and follow up actions, identifying root causes and implementing changes to prevent reoccurrences.
- Review SWP’s (Safe Work Plans) for the tasks on site.
- Carry out Inductions and Toolbox talks as required.
