SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Outstanding candidates for this role will have:
- A Tertiary Qualification in Mechanical Engineering (BE, NZCE, NZDE, etc.)
- Experience working in the transport industry, including vehicle rules and design standards, is preferred but not essential
- Knowledge of engineering mechanics including fatigue, beam design, bolted and welded connections
- Technical and problem-solving skills with reasoning ability
- Excellent computer skills including Windows, Word, Excel and file management
- 3D modelling and 2D drafting skills, preferably with experience in Autodesk Inventor, Vault and AutoCAD
- Familiarity with modern fabrication and assembly production processes
- Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner including technical writing
Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to join our growing Engineering Team. We are open to considering applicants of all experience levels, including recent graduates. The successful candidate will not only have the opportunity to learn from a team of experienced engineers but also contribute to a collaborative environment with their knowledge and experience.
The role of Mechanical Engineer will report directly to the Engineering Manager and be responsible for creating and maintaining design documentation including calculations, 3D models, drawings, CAM files, Bills of Materials and QC documents to enable efficient operation of our factory.
Some of the technical duties will include:
- Developing and analysing designs that meet stakeholder needs and requirements
- Capturing design intent and component selections in 3D models and technical drawings
- Producing clear and accurate engineering calculations
- Generating CAM files and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Compiling build packs with the required documentation
- Providing technical support to stakeholders where required
If you are a recent graduate, this role will provide you with the opportunity to learn how we do things from the ground up. You will be able to transfer the knowledge you have learned in your qualification and continue to grow your skills while working amongst an experienced team of professionals.
This role is based in Tauriko, Tauranga, and the hours of work are Monday to Friday, 42 hours per week.
