Responsibilities:

ACTUARIAL PROFILE AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

You will join the Pricing and Insight team as a Graduate Pricing Analyst to put your positive attitude and problem-solving abilities to good use. The Pricing and Insight team has a primary purpose of ensuring that Pen Underwriting delivers on its underwriting profitability. This is a hands-on role within pricing, where your analytical skills will be creatively utilised to support underwriting decisions.
You will have exposure to the disciplines within the team (pricing, reserving, data and management information) and to the main areas of the business (underwriting, claims, and external partners). Pen Underwriting has a vast range of insurance products to give you an excellent overview of the general insurance world. The key areas of the role are:

• Support the collection and maintenance of pricing and reserving data.
• Design, develop and manage data load processes to ensure the delivery of accurate and clean data to key stakeholders.
• Deliver and maintain pricing, reserving and analytical solutions across all underwriting lines
• Analyse data to identify trends and insights, communicating your findings to our key stakeholders.
• Measure impact of underwriting actions, rate change, and renewal retention, new and lost business.
• Support the business planning process through loss ratio projection and analysis.
• Identify opportunities that can improve efficiency of business processes.

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS

• Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with ability to apply judgement
• Programming skills (SQL, Python, R) would useful
• Ability to manage large data sets
• Able to communicate effectively with key stakeholders
• Outstanding teammate who enjoys working in an open and collaborative structure
• Ability to plan and organise work to meet targets and deadlines
• Ability to use negotiation and persuasion in order to achieve solutions to complex situations, both internally and externally
