ABOUT US

The Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at Western University is a public, urban medical and dental school to serve the people of Southwestern Ontario. The School’s mission is to provide medical and dental pre-and post-doctoral education programs.
At Schulich Dentistry, we prepare qualified graduates to provide dental care as well as generate knowledge through clinical research, basic science research and other scholarly activity. We also provide oral health care to the public through our on-site clinics and our community outreach programs, specifically, Dental Outreach Community Service (DOCS) and Oral Health, Total Health.

Education:

  • Undergraduate degree in Heath Service Research and/or Dental Public Health and/or Qualitative Research Fiel

Experience:

  • 1 year of work experience supporting research in a related technical fiel

Skills, Abilities & Expertise:

  • Excellent qualitative research skills including higher proficiency in qualitative methods and analysis.
  • Expertise with qualitative software (N-Vivo)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Expertise in conducting critical appraisals of literature.
  • Strong time and tasks management skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Experience applying for and maintaining research ethics board approvals.
  • Expertise with reference management software.
  • The ability to work productively in a self-directed manner as well as collaboratively within multidisciplinary research team.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent knowledge of Participatory Action Research (PAR) and Community Based Participatory Research (CBPR) will be an asset

Responsibilities:

Undergraduate degree related to Heath Service Research and/or Dental Public Health and/or Qualitative Research Field. Preference will be given to the candidates with graduate degree and/or related field experience an/or academic training.
This project aims to identify the experiences of Community Service Learning (CSL) by undergraduate dentistry learners and community members accessing oral healthcare services at the Schulich CSL placements in Ontario and East Africa. The incumbent will be working with Dr. Abbas Jessani from the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry as a part-time (Graduate) Research Assistant. We are particularly looking for candidates with experience and expertise in qualitative methodologies and education research.
