AGL’s Asset Integrity team have an opportunity for a Grid Scale Engineer to provide technical support on assets and projects relating to grid connections.
This role we provide subject matter expertise with respect to grid requirements for new technologies, and how to best deploy them at AGL.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Providing technical support relating to connecting new projects to the NEM, from initial project concept through to handover post-commissioning.
  • Managing PSS/E and PSCAD models and grid connection studies.
  • Undertaking necessary technical assessments, analysis and reviews related to grid connection standards compliance.
  • Liaising and coordinating with AEMO and NSP/TNSP to facilitate the registration and commissioning process for new projects.
  • Support the execution of innovative engineering strategies for AGL, that are integrated with market and regulatory position, optimising AGL’s overall asset portfolio.
  • Forming and developing strong working relationships with key stakeholders in multi-disciplinary teams within Energy Hubs, Asset Services, and operation sites.

What you’ll bring:

  • Sound knowledge and experience in connecting generation to the NEM.
  • Power systems modelling (e.g. PSS/E, PowerFactory, PSCAD) with a background in utilities or grid connections.
  • An ability to manage the expectations of multiple stakeholders, balancing and understand their needs through analysis, influencing and negotiating, incorporating this into deliverables.
  • Experience in connection application, generator registration and negotiation of generator performance standards.
  • Experience:
  • Power engineering – specific knowledge in renewable or new grid technologies.
  • 3 years’ experience in grid connection, utilities
  • Proficiency with industry-standard software modelling tools, including PSS/E and PSCAD

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering (essential).
  • Eligible for membership of Engineers Australia (essential)
  • Eligible for Professional Engineering certification e.g. CPEng (preferrable).
