Responsibilities:

MŌ TĒNEI TŪRANGA MAHI | ABOUT THE ROLE

EIT | Te Pūkenga is seeking a dedicated full time (37.5 hours per week) Grounds Person to elevate our maintenance standards to new heights. As a crucial member of our team, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the pristine appearance of our Hawke’s Bay Campus and Student Village. From mowing lawns to trimming hedges, your meticulous attention to detail will be showcased daily. With opportunities for growth and a supportive work environment, this role is perfect for those who thrive in an active, hands-on setting.
The appointing salary for this role will be between $45,000 to $51,000 depending on skills and experience.

The Grounds Person is based at EIT | Te Pūkenga campus in sunny Hawkes Bay. Reporting to the Grounds Team Lead this position will be responsible for:

  • Assisting with the development of a long-term plan for EIT Hawke’s Bay Campus grounds in consultation with the Team Lead and Facilities Manager.
  • Carrying out maintenance of the Hawke’s Bay Campus and Student Village maintain grounds lawns, shrubs and irrigation systems and provide advice and assistance as required.
  • Maintaining an appropriate fertilizer, pest and weed control program.
  • Assessing plant health and condition and taking appropriate action.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL HAVE:

  • Recent and relevant practical experience in all areas of grounds maintenance, including the use of a range of machinery and hand tools.
  • Experience with the safe storage and use of horticultural chemicals.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge to service and maintain ground equipment.
