Description:

Oakridge is currently recruiting for a Grounds Superintendent for the Burlington through to Mississauga area. The position involves overseeing year-round exterior commercial property maintenance.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5 – 10 years of experience in a Grounds Superintendent or similar role.
  • A degree or Diploma in Horticultural Studies; Construction; Landscape; Applied Technology or Construction Management; is an asset.
  • Knowledge of site including operation and location of important items (i.e. alarm panels, alarm codes, roof hatches, fire hydrants, utility and electrical rooms, catch basins, water meters).
  • Knowledge of HVAC and general construction practice would be considered an asset.
  • Able to manage multiple commercial sites throughout the Burlington to Mississauga area.
  • Able to manage multiple grounds-keeping crews.
  • Good understanding of parking lot maintenance and outdoor janitorial jobs.
  • Very strong understanding of snow removal practices as well as the ability to manage numerous sites for snow and ice management during winter months.
  • Familiarity with a contractual scope of work.
  • Working knowledge of MS Excel.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Clean Driver’s Abstract.

Responsibilities:

Grounds Superintendent related to the landscape gardening industry. Our Grounds Superintendent will work to ensure our crews work with the utmost care and efficiency to reflect workmanship. The below is intended only as a general description and should be considered a minimum to fulfill this job role. Job duties are subject to job role additions and changes at any time.

  • Supervising the groundskeeping crews to ensure tasks are completed properly and to OLC standards.
  • Ensuring that assigned properties are safe, clean, and maintained at all times (hard and soft-scapes).
  • Be Familiar with any contractors working on sites (i.e.: painters, masons, HVAC, plumbing, parking lot maintenance, snow removal, etc.) and report this information back to the Grounds Manager.
  • Notifying the Grounds Manager and Owner/Property Manager immediately regarding any site issues that are hazardous or in need of repair.
  • Submission of a daily Janitorial written report (DWR) for each site. Pick-up every Monday and submit to the Grounds Manager.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with all store tenants and property managers, including regularly scheduled visits to ensure tenant needs are consistently met.
  • Ensure health and safety standards are held high among the grounds keeping crews and ensuring all staff members are aware of any unsafe or hazardous conditions in the area.
  • Take immediate action to rectify any unsafe or hazardous conditions on site and report those conditions back to OLC, time is always of the essence.
  • Monitor sites for empty units, damages, etc., and report to the Grounds Manager immediately.
  • Notify the Grounds Manager and Owner/Property Manager immediately regarding any site issues that are hazardous or in need of repair.
  • Complete proper cleaning and inspections including (based on contract details) and change lighting fixtures (excluding high parking lot light; tenant sign boxes and pylon signs).
  • Manage the daily operation of all snow removal projects during the winter season.
  • Complete the proper repair book for any damaged tools and equipment.
  • Ensure that the work site is left in a clean and safe condition at the end of every day.
  • Prompt reporting of maintenance required to exterior light fixtures.
