Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE
Super Gardens has a long-standing partnership with the Melbourne Racing Club, and provides track, garden and grounds maintenance services at Caulfield Racecourse. We have an opportunity for an experienced Grounds Maintenance person to join our team.
You will be a flexible team player with a strong customer focus who is prepared to undertake a variety of responsibilities and provide grounds maintenance services to a high standard and to meet customer expectations. Ideally, you will have a proven background in a hands-on role from within the grounds maintenance, racecourse, turf management or other relevant industries.
Predominantly mid-week racing schedule with overtime available through mid-week or weekend racing.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Carrying out instructions from the Racecourse Foreman and leadership group;
- Sports turf maintenance; various types of mowing, irrigation, treading and track repairs, rail moves, operation of a large range of machinery, pre and post-race day tasks, and any other reasonable horticultural and facility maintenance related tasks;
- Awareness of working in the public eye and professional behaviour is essential;
- Abide by all restrictions due to horse movements at various times of any given day;
- Ensure you are punctual and in a fit condition to commence work at the start of the day;
- Mixing, decanting and spraying chemicals including pesticides, herbicides and fuel;
- Use of a range of horticultural equipment including a blower, hedger, whipper snipper, push mower and ride-mower etc.;
- Be available to work on assigned racing event days. On these racing days, start and finish times will be adjusted to suit the event and may result in late finishes; and
- Undertake daily pre-start checks as required.
